363 Hand Applied Finishes with Hendrik Pt.1
For this month’s visit with our very own guest expert Hendrik. We’re wrapping up our 3 part mini-series on finishing by discussing hand-applied finishes and finishing techniques.
I think it’s safe to say that hand application of a finish is the most common method being used by home shop/small shop woodworkers.
Whether it’s applying a traditional penetrating oil such as tung oil or a topcoat such as lacquer, there are steps that can make the difference between a great result and one you wish had never applied.
Coming up in June, Hendrik will be back for one more episode before our Summer hiatus in July. This is an open question and answer show, so if there’s something we haven’t talked about or something you’d like clarified email us with your question.

What you’re listening to is from a Skype call. Hendrik is still on dial-up, so he doesn’t have Skype. I have to Skype Out to talk with him. I know there’s a little buzz in the background, I haven’t been able to isolate and eliminate it yet.

Unfortunately you’re right, it has to do with Hendrik’s phone line. Until he gets high speed we can’t use Skype, which would make a huge difference LOL!!
