438 “Woodworker’s Guide To Sketchup” By Bob Lang
Today’s “Try it Tuesday” is a look at Bob Lang’s “Woodworker’s Guide To Sketchup”. A really amazing tutorial covering just about every aspect of Google’s Sketchup 3D modeling system that a woodworker would need to create stunning and detailed drawings for their next project.
Bob is a great teacher, author and of course woodworker. Bob has taken it upon himself to learn as much about Sketchup as humanly possible, and for the past couple of years has been teaching woodworkers how to get the most from it.
“Woodworker’s Guide To Sketchup” is a fully interactive eBook that you load onto your computer and can access while using Sketchup on your next project. It’s like having Bob sitting next to you while you’re designing. And to add to all of this are the multiple built-in videos that highlight the topics discussed throughout and reinforce the lessen.
Trust me, if you’ve ever wanted to learn how to use Sketchup or just dramatically improve what you’re already doing with it, this is the book for you!

Hey Matt
Thanks for reminding me about Bob’s book. I spotted it a few weeks ago and was going to order it before the deadline then I promptly forgot…what can I say, life got in the way. However, I just ordered it. It will be a great supplement to the online video series he did on Popular Woodworking’s site…that too is a great Sketchup resource.
Take care
John
I second that Matt. I’ve been using Sketchup for a couple of years now and I’ve created some quite complex things with it. Like most woodworkers, I learnt what I know by just playing with it.
I received Bob’s e-book a few days ago and haven’t been able to put it down. I’ve learnt so many short cuts and there have been numerous ‘Aha!’ moments.
Highly recommended.
Hey great artical on woodworking keep the tips and tricks coming, Thanks again
As a compulsive researcher and newbie to woodworking ( I have no idea what I’m doing, but I’m having fun), I have been trying to figure Sketchup out. Thanks for the reference.
Susan if you ever have questions, don’t hesitate! There’s a lot of great resources out there for just about anything you want to do in woodworking.
Bob’s tutorial is a great resource!
