I considered just doing something more basic than a miter joint with the MDO, but I wanted it to have clean edges and not have to deal with the layers exposed.

The next one, which is already being requested, will most likely be solid wood. This one just might be another episode…considering I’m thinking of using much different joinery and a slight change to the design.

If you make another one from solid wood, you could dovetail the corners. You won’t have to worry so much about the corners coming apart during glue up.

I originally had planned to hang it on the wall so we could have our boots underneath it for the winter.

But a couple of great options to add on to it, and to hide the mistake, would be a base with some feet to get it up off the floor or a nice moulding to give it a finished look.
