A Little Help From My Friends

July 12, 2010

There’s never an easy way to do this so I’ll just come out and say it. I need a little help! Of course that’s no secret to anyone who’s met me in person…or if you’ve ever checked out the show. So a little more clarification is obviously in order. I don’t need help immediately, but I have a feeling I’ll need it in the future. There I’ve said it.

I don’t like asking for help, and that’s especially true when it comes to all things financial. But as we all know “STUFF HAPPENS” when we least expect it and more likely when we can least afford it.

Since planning and prevention are the best ways to avoid costly problems down the road I’ve decided it’s time to take some action for when the time comes that “STUFF DOES HAPPEN”.

It’s no secret Matt’s Basement Workshop & Spoken Wood Podcast are totally free for everyone to enjoy and it shouldn’t be a secret either that they are in no way what-so-ever a money maker. If I were to quit my day job today to pursue Podcasting full time I’d be broke about an hour later.

Since my ability to produce content for the shows rides solely on the equipment I’ve purchased (mics, cameras, computers, etc.) one small glitch in any of them, and the show could be sunk. To keep things up and running it’s important to have a little something you can fall back on to pay the repair bills or simple replace old and outdated equipment.

As I mentioned at the beginning of this post I don’t like asking for a lot of help, but I have a way we can do something that will help each other. How’s that possible? Glad you asked!

There are a few different ways…including the following:

The first and most obvious is the advertising you see on the site from the great folks at Lee Valley and Highland Woodworking. The advertisers are selected for what they can offer you and not by how much they pay for the spot. So if you get the chance, please pay them a visit. I’m confident you’ll find something you’ll like.

The second way is from affiliate links at stores like Highland Woodworking, Woodcraft, Amazon or Rockler. By clicking on the links here and also on the “Help Support MBW” page. Every time you buy something for yourself the show gets a small commission from the sale.

The third and final way is by appealing to the generousity of you the listener. It’s quick and easy to make a donation directly to the show by using the Paypal donation button on this page. “Thank You” to the many of you who have previously donated money through Paypal. Your generousity is greatly appreciated!!

Still looking for another way to help? Why not order some great MBW Podcast T-shirts, coffee mugs and more by clicking on the link to the MBW CafePress Store? Again, with every purchase, the show gets a small commission but more importantly you get a great little something that you can show your friends and family!!

Thanks for all your help, I really appreciate it!!
