It’s that time of year again! GET WOODWORKING WEEK 2013The brain-child of our very own Tom Iovino.
There’s a very good chance that any one of you reading this post is a brand new woodworker, or maybe even someone who’s interested but has yet to give it a try. And there’s a lot of good reasons for being a little hesitant to give it a go!
Woodworking can look very intimidating. What projects to build? What materials to use? What tools to use? Who can teach me? A ton of questions!
But here’s a good piece of news for you as a beginner. There are a lot of people who are happy to give you a helping hand and point you in the right direction.
Woodworking is without a doubt a solitary hobby for the most part, but thanks to the internet, it’s not nearly as solitary as it once felt. In fact, it’s now hard to imagine not connecting with fellow woodworkers online one way or another.
So the big question that still remains is, “WHERE DO I GET STARTED?” and the answer is…“WHAT DO YOU WANT TRY?” I know technically it’s another question, but it’s one I ask all the time.
Woodworking isn’t a destination, it’s a journey. In order to become successful at woodworking (even in the smallest ways) you have to put one foot in front of the other and take that first step to starting whatever project you think you want to build.
During this week, I plan to contribute to the effort by publishing links and posts that I think will help to answer some of the most common questions I’ve received from visitors over the past seven years. They may be even ones you have.
Check back all week, and of don’t forget to visit Tom’s website www.tomsworkbench.com for even more links and ideas.
