Handworks 2015 with Highland Woodworking

May 28, 20150 Comments

Handworks 2015 has come and gone and try as hard as I might, I just wasn’t able to make it out to Amana, Iowa to see it for myself. But thankfully I knew I could count on folks to share their experiences and live vicariously through them until I can make it there myself.

Hands down one of the best accounts of what it was like to be in attendance this year came from the staff of Highland Woodworking. You can always count on them to take some great photos and to sum up the entire experience in an article on their blog or in their newsletter.

This time around it wasn’t just one event to share, but actually two since just down the road from Handworks was the Studley Tool Chest Exhibit put together by Don Williams (in case you forgot what the big deal is about the Studley Tool Chest, here’s a link to my interview with Don and photographer Narayan Nayar from October 2014.)

And since Handworks is a celebration of all things hand tools, especially the opportunity for modern day tool manufacturers to show off their amazing work, what would an event like this be without the one and only Roy Underhill?

Thanks to the folks over at Benchcrafted, Roy was recorded getting the crowd excited about the love and appreciation for hand tools by reciting “Calypso’s Gift” and encouraging the crowd to “take a one-word pledge to say NO to power tools, and ‘take a bite out of Norm.'”

If like me you weren’t able to make the trip to Handworks 2015 or the Studley Tool Chest Exhibit you’ll appreciate these articles and galleries.
