If you follow me on Twitter or Facebook you probably already heard the news. But just in case you didn’t, HIGHLAND WOODWORKING of Atlanta, Georgia has decided they want to continue sponsoring Matt’s Basement Workshop Podcast!
I’m very excited about this partnership, as I have been for the past year. For those of you who have had a chance to visit with the folks at Highland Woodworking you know how warm and welcoming they are, and on top of that you probably also know how knowledgeable they are about tools. It’s hard to find a group of people who can so easily answer your questions about even the most basic of tools in a way that makes you feel as if you’re the only person in the store or online with them. I’d say it’s all that southern charm and hospitality, but I think it goes deeper than that.
So far all my experiences with the staff of Highland has either been by email, once in person and I think even maybe a phone call or two. I have yet to actually come down to the store for a visit. But I’m hoping to change all of that in the near future. I’ve been keeping my eye on their list of classes coming up and as soon as I spot one that I absolutely can’t miss (and then snag some vacation time from the day job) I’m heading to Atlanta. I’ll keep you posted in case you’d want to join me.
But in the meantime I invite you to take a look at the list of their class offerings. It might be a little late for some of the February classes, but I’m sure you could call or email and check on availability if you found one. I’m planning on making this a regular feature on the website. I’ll post a link to the list of upcoming classes for the next month as the current one closes, hopefully that way you’ll have time to make a few arrangements of your own.
So to get started here’s a link to February’s Class List. These include the following:
Sculpting a Maloof Inspired Chair with Charles Brock on Feb 26-27
Hand Planes with Jim Dillon
Basic Bowl Turning with Frank Bowers
If you sign up, let me know how it goes!
