If you had a year to design and build eleven absolutely amazing projects in your woodshop what would they be?
Now let me add another layer to that question…what if you not only designed these breathtaking pieces, but also built them only with hand tools?
No bandsaw, no table saw, power jointer, thickness planer or router just tools purely powered by your own muscles. Would that alter your plans dramatically or would it instead spark something even more in you?
AND if that wasn’t enough, let’s add yet again one more layer to this scenario. What if you documented the builds, wrote them down and shared them with the world? I know!!! That would be awesome!!! And I hope for all of our sakes you would do it sometime.
But just in case you’re like me and this isn’t something that will be happening anytime soon, we don’t have to feel like we’re letting the world down by not doing it since Tom Fidgen of The Unplugged Woodshop did it all for us.
Back in 2009 Tom wrote “Made by Hand: Furniture Projects from the Unplugged Woodshop”.
A book filled with amazing information and details on working wood entirely in a hand tool woodshop. A compilation of topics from essential tools to “appliances” to aide those tools to techniques and joinery and then on to six amazing projects to build.
This year Tom released his second title “The Unplugged Woodshop: Hand-Crafted Projects for the Home & Workshop”
Based on how inspirational that first title was, I can’t wait to get my hands on this one too especially after watching the trailer on YouTube…THAT’S RIGHT…a TRAILER!
For a sneak peek of what you’ll find between the covers you can read the snippet from the publisher or see and appreciate all that Tom put into it. I recommend the trailer, it’ll whet your appetite to build like nothing else.
