If you haven’t heard about the “Weekend with WOOD” event coming up the weekend of May 17-19, 2013 you may still have time to snag a seat…maybe even right next to me!
This is a limited seat woodworking event being put on by the staff of WOOD Magazine and it looks like it’s going to be a great opportunity to learn a ton of woodworking skills and just plain enjoy hanging out with fellow woodworkers who GET your jokes and vague references about woodworking.
According to the “Weekend with WOOD” website, located at www.weekendwithwood.com the event is taking place in the WOOD magazine shops and headquarters. So if you’ve ever wanted to see how things work behind the scenes or even meet with the staff that make the magazine happen this is your opportunity.
“Weekend with WOOD” is being hailed as “…the most rewarding three days you can spend with your favorite hobby.”
And according to the website: “Whether you’re a veteran woodworker, a weekend warrior, or setting up shop for the first time, Weekend with WOOD™ will put you at the top of your game. You’ll get an up-close-and-personal woodworking education taught in small classes by the biggest names in the business.
You choose the topics you want to learn to enrich your shop time. Sessions will be held not in some dainty hotel ballroom, but right where WE make sawdust: the shop and offices at WOOD magazine’s world headquarters in Des Moines, Iowa. Ample seating and large video screens in each class help you see the tiniest details of each presentation.”
I already booked my airline tickets and marked the calendar. Some I’m ready to go when the weekend rolls around. On top of it, I’m planning to leave a little extra room in my carry-on for the gift bag I hear each attendee will get just for showing up. It’s valued up to $200 with items woodworkers actually want to have and use.
Given that fact AND that I get to learn from teachers such as the staff of WOOD Magazine, Marc Adams, Gary Rogowski and even more I feel like the event has already paid for itself.
I hope you’ll be in attendance, if not, you can rest assured I’ll be posting Tweets, FB Status Updates and much more throughout the weekend. Hope to see you there, let me know if you want me to save you a seat.
