Hey everyone, just a quick ‘Hi’ and update on what’s coming up at MBW. First of all there is no truth to the rumor that the show is podfading…not like there was a real rumor…but it’s been recently asked by more than one of you.
This weekend we have the next installment of Router Bit of the Month with Whiteside and Woodcraft so look for that and hopefully you’ll be the lucky winner this month.
Wednesday April 1st, Wood Talk Online heads into the terrible 2’s with our second anniversary so DON’T MISS IT! The live episode is at 8PM EST and you can join us in the chatroom by heading over to Live Chat Room. Of course you can always check it out here or just subscribe to the WTO podcast feed in the following days.
Coming up the weekend of April 25-26 I’ll be in Indiana at the Marc Adams School of Woodworking taking a class with Chris Schwarz and Thomas Lie-Nielsen. The class is all about Hand Planes, setting them up, using them and just plain (no pun intended this time) having fun with them. Last time I checked, there were some more openings so if you’re interested and can make it…do it!!
Then, the following weekend May 2nd I’ll be in Chicago at Jeff Miller’s Studio to hang out at the Lie-Nielsen Tool Works show. I’d love to say I was invited by Lie-Nielsen, but the fact is it’s the closest location they’ll be to my area and I can’t resist visiting Jeff Miller’s place. Not to mention the fact that Jameel from Benchcrafted and Ron Brese from Brese Infill Planes will be demonstrating their products too. And I’m hoping to hangout and maybe talk shop with all these guys. Don’t miss it!
A couple of things about the show I wanted to mention, but keep forgetting.
I’m currently getting ready to add the old archived episodes from years 1, 2 & 3. You’ll find them listed here at the website, but the files themselves are still only available on the old feed’s website at www.mattswoodshop.libsyn.com. I’ll slowly be adding them so please be patient.
But if you can’t wait that long and you really want to get your hands on them as soon as possible. I have DVDs available that have all of them based on each year. These aren’t regular CDs but instead DVDs that you can download the episodes and then play on your computer, iPod or burn them to another disc.
If you’re interested in something like this, each DVD is $10 or 2 for $12 or all 3 for $15. Just let me know which year you’re interested in getting.
I also recently decided I needed to change the way I’ve been handling the schwag drawings. Entry is still a matter of filling out the form here at the website, but when you win I’ll be pulling your name from the list and then you’ll need to re-enter later. I’m asking everyone please wait at least 60 days before re-entering, but please feel free to do so when the time comes.
Hendrik is coming back for April so get your questions in regarding staining projects, specifically hand applied techniques for the best results.
That’s it for about now, but I’m hoping each week to be able to write a quick blog post or even record an audio episode to keep everyone informed of new happenings in between the main episodes.
Take care and thanks!!
