One clamping system to rule them all!

April 1, 20134 Comments

Leave it to Veritas to come up with the penultimate clamping system (that’s right, the next-to-last clamping system you’ll ever need)! If you haven’t seen it yet, check out the video in this post and/or follow the links I’m including to see more images and information on what is probably going to become the most sought after clamping system to come along in years.

The Veritas Spider Vise is a little pricey compared to what you could cobble together with your own clamps and maybe a jig or two, but if it lives up to what the description claims it can do it’ll save you time and money in the long run.

According to the description at Lee Valley’s online catalog “The Veritas Spider Vise provides unprecedented flexibility in work holding. The system is built around a 72-tooth central gear-driven hub. Up to 12 clamp arms can be located in any of 24 positions around the hub. This allows workpieces to be clamped at the best angle for the craftsman, not just at the single angle built into the vise or clamp. Make your own jaw heads to further increase the scope of customization. Use as many arms as you want and slide each quick-release jaw (of whatever form you choose) to whatever point along the arm suits.”

For more information, visit the Lee Valley website by clicking on THIS LINK.

If you purchase one please share your experience with it on this post, I’m sure we’d all love to hear about it.
