The Daily Matt No.79
It’s time to move from bench planes to specialty planes. While bench planes are very versatile tools that can be used for multiple tasks, specialty planes are very single task oriented. But when you choose the right one, that task is done extremely well and quickly!
With specialty planes there are two families. One is the joinery family and the other is the decorative family. Joinery planes help to do create traditional joinery for jobs such as rabbets, grooves, etc. The decorative planes are typically moulding planes that would be used for creating custom profiles for mouldings on furniture or even architectural details.
Specialty planes are a lot of fun to use and can be very addictive.
