Imagine my surprise the other day when I get a message from Andy Chidwick asking if he could stop by on the first leg of The Sawdust Tour 2013? I was both delighted and a little nervous about his visit, but I knew it was going to be an experience I couldn’t let pass me by.
If you’re not familiar with Andy Chidwick take a few minutes to visit his website www.chidwickschool.com. Andy is an amazing woodworker, artist and an inspiring teacher. In fact, it’s the teaching aspect of his talents that has him on the road right now with The Woodworking Shows.
Andy and his family are traveling around the country right now and along the way they’ll be stopping by to visit with woodworkers near and not so near to some of the venues The Woodworking Show is stopping at.
Unfortunately the show’s not coming to the West Michigan area but luckily for me the Chidwicks had friends in the area they planned to visit with for the holiday, so this afforded us a great opportunity to get together. So what exactly is The Sawdust Tour?
To learn more about what Andy’s doing on the road, besides teaching at The Woodworking Show visit The Sawdust Tour website – www.sawdusttour.com. As Andy explained it to me while we met; it’s all about traveling to interesting places, meeting other woodworkers, visiting shops and studios, and sharing tips and experiences with each other along the way.
To stay up to date with where the Chidwicks will be appearing next, where they’ve been, and to see videos and read blogs about who they’ve meet along the way visit The Sawdust Tour website www.sawdusttour.com, or visit The Sawdust Tour Facebook page and you can even follow them on Twitter as @Chidwickschool or search for the hash tag #sawdusttour.
Considering I’m the second or third stop along the way, the videos are still being edited as I’m posting this. Please be patient for The Sawdust Tour to find time to edit and post content, given their busy schedule, but check in frequently as it’s about to really start picking up speed from here.
